The Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) said on the 22nd that it has published a booklet analyzing the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) agents on daily life, the labor market, education, democracy, and national security, and presenting policy response directions.
The booklet was compiled based on the results of a citizen forum and surveys involving experts and citizens. It presents an accessible summary of the opportunities and risks that AI agents will bring, along with key policy tasks to address them.
AI agents are drawing attention as a technology that can boost productivity and create new industries. At the same time, concerns have been raised that they could cause problems such as expanded use of personal information, ambiguity over accountability, changes in the job structure, the spread of false information, and deepening technological dependence.
The booklet examined the changes AI agents will bring from nine perspectives: relationships with humans; changes in labor; personal information protection and use; social acceptance and future education; convergence and innovation; sovereignty and security; AI sustainability; accountability; and civil society and democracy.
As key policy tasks, the booklet presented six items: establishing an AI accountability system; improving the personal information protection and use system; strengthening talent development and lifelong education for the AI era; creating an environment for collaboration between humans and AI; securing AI safety and reliability; and strengthening digital sovereignty and national competitiveness.
The booklet can be downloaded from the websites of the MSIT and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Evaluation and Planning starting on the 23rd.
"Going forward, we will build social consensus on future technologies through technology impact assessments in which experts and citizens participate together, and seek desirable directions for development," said Hong Soon-jung, director general of the Performance Evaluation Policy Bureau at the MSIT.
