LG Uplus is introducing 'ixi-O Roaming Call,' a free overseas call service, in Japan.
LG Uplus said Monday it will launch the 'ixi-O Roaming Call' service, which allows customers to make voice calls abroad without international call charges, for users of its artificial intelligence (AI) call app 'ixi-O.'
ixi-O Roaming Call is designed to let customers who have subscribed to a U+ roaming plan or are connected to a Wi-Fi environment make calls to family, acquaintances, and business contacts in Korea without burden while staying overseas. Since no separate international call charges are applied, users can reduce the cost burden of voice calls during overseas travel or business trips.
LG Uplus designed ixi-O Roaming Call with a focus on providing a calling environment similar to that in Korea while abroad. The service will first begin in Japan, then be sequentially expanded in the second half of the year to about 100 countries with high demand among Korean users, including Southeast Asia, China, and Europe.
"Going forward, we will continue to advance our AI-based call services, including the roaming environment, so that customers can make calls without burden and use services safely anywhere at home and abroad," said Choi Yun-ho, head of LG Uplus's AI Business Group.
