KT unveiled plans to expand its artificial intelligence (AI) agent services, deploying them in internal operations and conducting technology validation while aggressively entering the B2C and B2B markets.
KT announced the strategy at its "KT Agentic AI Technology Briefing" held at the KT Gwanghwamun Building West in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the 17th. Kim Jun-seok, head of the Agentic AI Lab at KT's AX Future Technology Institute (executive director), said, "By the second half of this year, we will apply hyper-personalized agents to KT's existing B2C services, and we will also develop vertical agents optimized for individual industries such as law and patents, starting with internal use as references for our AX business." Alongside this, KT is also pursuing research and development of future-oriented agentic AI that supports individuals' daily lives and work.
Hyper-personalized AI agents introduced to My K, Genie TV, and Sajang Easy
KT plans to introduce hyper-personalized AI agents to My K, Genie TV, and Sajang Easy in the second half of this year.
The core lies in "long-term memory" technology, which stores users' tastes and preferences as data, enabling existing agents to be more optimized to individual circumstances.
For example, the telecom app My K analyzes individual usage patterns to suggest optimized pricing plans, while Genie TV analyzes prior viewing history to provide the most suitable content. Kim explained, "When a customer gives a voice command saying 'I want to watch baseball,' the AI, recognizing that they are usually a KT fan, will add a feature that switches to the baseball channel airing a KT game."
Developing vertical AI agents based on industry-specific expertise… expanding to industry and finance
KT plans to prove the effectiveness of its B2B-targeted "vertical AI agents" by finding success cases within the second half of the year.
KT currently holds specialized models across four professional domain areas: network optimization, patents, law, and EASY-RFP. Kim said, "We will develop AI agents optimized for various domains, use them internally, and also leverage them as references for our AX business."
In the legal field in particular, KT is already conducting its first project with the Supreme Court for the AX transformation of "trial work support," and is additionally preparing agent technology for the Supreme Court's sentencing support project. In the mid-to-long term, KT plans to later expand its application domains to manufacturing and finance agents.
Developing personal and work-use agents… technology validation in the second half
Personal AI agents will begin proof-of-concept (PoC) testing in the second half of this year. KT is pursuing future-oriented autonomous execution technology in an "OpenClaw" form, in which AI agents perform substantive tasks in users' PC and cloud environments.
The personal AI agent currently under development aims to reach a level where the AI first identifies even latent needs the user is unaware of, proposes agenda items, and autonomously plans and executes them.
In particular, the internal work-use agent "Employee Agent" aims to be released to KT's internal staff starting next month for internal technology validation. The Employee Agent can effectively manage and utilize work knowledge by integrating it across the company. Each employee's agent has access to internal work systems and messengers, understands work information, and then supports task performance.
Kim said, "Even when an employee is on vacation or away, the AI can respond to messages on their behalf, and meeting coordination between staff can be handled by the staff members' agents instead," adding, "In the second half of this year, we plan to have some organizations use the Employee Agent first before expanding it across the entire company."
