Shin Da-in, 25, of Yojin Construction lifted a second trophy at the course where she won her first title in 2025, closing with a monstrous eight-under round that shook off her pursuers early.
Shin shot an eight-under 64 in the final round of the KG Ladies Open, a Korea Ladies Professional Golf (KLPGA) Tour event with a total purse of 1 billion won ($720,000), at Sunning Point Country Club, a par-72 layout in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, on the 30th. Her 17-under 271 total put her three strokes clear of runner-up Park Hye-jun at 14 under. It was Shin's first win of the year and earned her 180 million won.
Shin played flawlessly, shooting under par on all four days. She trailed the lead by five strokes entering the third round before mounting a fierce comeback to defend her title. She is the only player to win this tournament in consecutive years since it began 15 editions ago.
Shin is the player behind the so-called "408-meter tee shot" that came in a playoff at the par-5 18th hole in the final round of last year's tournament. Her tee shot veered right and landed on a cart path, where the ball bounced and kept rolling for a total of 408 meters. Shin reached the green in two and made birdie to beat Yoo Hyun-jo for her first career victory.
Starting the day in a four-way tie for the lead, one stroke ahead of the field alongside Yoo Ah-hyun, Park Hye-jun and Noh Seung-hee, Shin ran off five consecutive birdies from the par-5 third through the par-4 seventh to take the outright lead. She wobbled with a missed tee shot at the par-5 ninth for her first bogey of the day. The composure of a defending champion showed under pressure. Shin regained her rhythm immediately with back-to-back birdies at the par-4 10th and 11th. She added another birdie at the par-4 15th, then sealed the win by holing a putt of more than 7 meters at the par-4 17th.
"Ever since I won this tournament in 2025, the label of a surprise winner has always followed me," Shin said afterward. "I wanted to prove that I'm not someone who happened to win once but a player who is always in contention, and I'm happy that I could do it at a place where I have good memories."
Park Hye-jun, who had shared the lead through the third round, made five birdies without a bogey to stay in contention. But she could not get past Shin and had to settle for sole second place at 14 under.
Chang Eun-soo, who claimed her first career win at the Jeju Samdasoo Masters that ended on the 9th of this month, tied for third at 13 under alongside Choi Ye-rim.
Seo Kyo-rim, who leads the race for most wins this season on her own with four victories, tied for fifth at 12 under with Choi Eun-woo and Yoo Ah-hyun, while long-drive specialist Bang Shin-sil finished the tournament tied for eighth at 11 under.
