GEOJE — The Coast Guard is searching for a man in his 60s who went missing after his fishing boat was found circling without anyone aboard off Geoje in South Gyeongsang Province.
According to the Changwon Coast Guard Station, a report came in at about 10:01 p.m. the previous day that a 4.99-ton fishing boat was circling with no one on board about one nautical mile (1.9 kilometers) southwest of Jisimdo Island in Irun-myeon, Geoje, the agency said on the 29th.
Based on port entry and departure records, the Coast Guard believes the man fell into the water and went missing.
The Coast Guard conducted an overnight sea search using patrol vessels and requested support from related agencies including the Navy and fire authorities. The search is also continuing on land, including at the man's home.
