A fire broke out at an apartment complex in Suseo-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul, on the 23rd, forcing residents to evacuate a day before the Chuseok holiday began.
Fire authorities and the Gangnam District Office said a report came in at about 12:12 p.m. that a fire had started at the Suseo 6 Complex apartment building in Suseo-dong. Seven residents evacuated, and no casualties have been confirmed so far.
Firefighters brought the blaze under initial control at about 1:07 p.m., roughly an hour after it began, and have started clearing remaining embers.
The Gangnam District Office sent out an emergency text alert, telling residents to evacuate outside the complex immediately because heavy smoke was spreading from the apartment fire.
Fire authorities are working to determine the exact extent of casualties and property damage as well as the cause of the fire.
