DAEJEON — The Public Procurement Service and the Korean executive director's office at the Asian Development Bank have joined forces to help Korean companies win ADB procurement contracts and expand their role in development projects across Asia and the Pacific.
The procurement agency is taking part in the Asian Development Bank Business Opportunities Fair 2026, held from Sept. 21 to 24 at ADB headquarters in Manila, the Philippines, along with about 50 Korean companies.
The fair is an annual ADB event that introduces the bank's development projects to companies worldwide and promotes networking with them.
The 50 or so companies discussed project information, participation procedures and upcoming tenders in six areas of interest, including transport, energy, and water resources and urban development. They also held one-on-one meetings with ADB officials.
Kim Tae-wan, chief executive of Sunz, which manufactures and exports home solar systems, said the fair deepened the company's understanding of the ADB procurement market. "The networking and information-sharing programs for Korean companies were especially helpful," Kim said.
Lee Hyung-sik, director general for planning and coordination at the Public Procurement Service, said Korean exporters need to diversify into global procurement markets such as those of international organizations. "We will provide support so that our companies can secure competitiveness in the procurement markets of major international organizations including the ADB," Lee said.
