A comedian surnamed Kim, who debuted through KBS's open audition system, has been booked without detention by police on charges of assaulting a designated driver while drunk inside a moving vehicle. Kim reportedly appeared on KBS's comedy program "Gag Concert."
Seoul's Seocho Police Station booked Kim without detention at around 1 a.m. on the 20th on charges of assaulting a driver under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes, police said on the 21st.
Kim had reportedly called a designated driver, identified as A, to take him home after he drank at a bar in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the night of the 19th.
While the car was traveling on the road, Kim, heavily intoxicated, grabbed A by the neck and shook the driver, according to the investigation.
Police who responded to the report arrested Kim at the scene. Authorities are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
