YEONCHEON — Yeoncheon County in Gyeonggi Province has appointed an outside expert to strengthen local health care capacity and develop tailored policies.
The county said on the 14th that it had named Lee Jong-hoon, a professor of health care management at Kyung Hee Cyber University, as a special adviser to provide expert counsel and workable policy alternatives on key administrative issues.
The appointment is part of an effort to respond early to a rapidly changing local health care environment, including accelerating population aging, and to build the infrastructure needed to deliver more stable, higher-quality medical services to residents.
Lee is a leading management and administration specialist in the health care field, having served as head of the administrative office at Kyung Hee University Medical Center and as a member of management evaluation panels for regional public hospitals. The adviser will offer policy counsel on the county's health care operations and propose directions for future development.
"Medical infrastructure goes beyond welfare. It is a core factor that determines residents' quality of life, the conditions for settling here and the sustainability of the region," Yeoncheon County Mayor Kim Deok-hyun said. "Starting with this appointment of a specialist adviser, we will pursue policies that eliminate gaps in medical coverage and dramatically improve the quality of public health care services."
The county said it plans to operate a close cooperation framework with the health care adviser, review local health care issues on a regular basis and accelerate the search for new projects that maximize residents' access to medical care.
