ULSAN — Two men in their 30s have been arrested and detained after they threatened employees at an adult gaming parlor and fled with 12 million won ($8,600) in cash, having lost a large sum there.
Ulsan Nambu Police Station said on the 14th that it had arrested and detained two men in their 30s, including one identified only as A, on charges of aggravated robbery.
According to police, the men are accused of threatening employees at an adult gaming parlor in Dal-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan, on the afternoon of Sept. 8 and fleeing with 12 million won in cash.
The investigation found that the men committed the crime after losing about 16 million won while playing games at the parlor. They demanded money from an employee, falsely claiming that they had won a payout but that a system problem had blocked the refund.
When the employees refused to hand over the money, the men exposed tattoos on their bodies and threatened to "smash up the entire place" unless they were paid, then seized cash from the counter and fled.
After receiving a report, police traced the suspects' escape route and arrested the two men separately in Busan and in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, a day after the crime. At the time of the arrest, one of the suspects locked himself inside his residence, but police opened the door with the help of fire authorities and entered to take him into custody safely.
Police have recovered about half of the stolen money from the suspects and are focusing their investigation on where the remaining funds were spent and whether they have been hidden.
