A server failure at Uway Apply, one of two agencies that process South Korean college applications, struck about 10 minutes before the deadline for early admissions for the 2027 academic year, prompting officials to extend the cutoff by an hour.
The Korean Council for University Education said on the 11th that it had pushed the application deadline for 2027 early admissions from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. that day, citing the server error in Uway Apply's application system.
According to the council, the server error began around 5:50 p.m. As traffic surged ahead of the deadline, some applicants were unable to submit their applications or complete payments.
The council said it decided to delay the deadline by one hour to prevent applicants from being harmed.
Applicants can register as a member with either Uway Apply or Jinhak Apply, the two application processing agencies, and submit applications to universities that use that system.
