CHEONAN — Tugubong Forest Bathing Park, built in Pungseo-ri in Pungse-myeon, Dongnam-gu, in the South Chungcheong city of Cheonan, has opened and is expected to become the city's newest forest recreation destination.
The city spent a total of 4.4 billion won ($3.2 million) to develop the 47,660-square-meter site and held an opening ceremony on the 9th.
The project was completed after the city drew up a basic plan in 2017 and then carried out land compensation and the widening of access roads.
The park includes a visitor information center, forest walking trails, outdoor rest areas, a woodworking activity space and a multipurpose grass field. Drawing on its identity as a forest recreation area open to dogs, it also runs tailored programs such as training sessions for visitors with dogs and guided forest walks.
The city plans to expand small concerts and forest culture events in cooperation with local universities and craft organizations.
"I hope Tugubong Forest Bathing Park becomes a forest recreation destination where residents can rest their bodies and minds among the trees," Cheonan Mayor Jang Ki-soo said.
