ULSAN — The city of Ulsan will replace the public Wi-Fi on all 762 of its city buses with Wi-Fi 7, the next-generation wireless standard, starting in October.
The project applies a 5G backhaul network and multi-link operation (MLO) technology to double data bandwidth to 320 megahertz from the current level, reducing dropped connections and bottlenecks during crowded morning and evening commutes.
The monthly data cap per bus will rise to 300 gigabytes from 200 gigabytes, and speeds of at least 100 megabits per second will be maintained even after the basic allowance is used up. The city plans to replace the equipment in stages at night and on weekends to avoid disrupting bus operations. Ulsan said it will continue expanding its digital infrastructure to strengthen transportation services for residents.
