The Hanaro Happiness Sharing Volunteer Corps of Gwanghyewon Agricultural Cooperative has begun planting cabbage seedlings for a charity kimchi-making drive.
The corps carried out the volunteer work on the 28th at 303 Wolseong-ri, Gwanghyewon-myeon, Jincheon County, North Chungcheong Province, planting about 600 cabbage seedlings.
Members gathered at the field early in the morning to plant the seedlings, taking the first step toward preparing kimchi for neighbors in need this winter.
The volunteers will tend the cabbages through the growing season and harvest them in the fall. The harvest will be made into kimchi and delivered to low-income households and other residents in need.
"I am grateful for the warm hearts and the hard work of our volunteers," said Park Bong-sik, head of Gwanghyewon Agricultural Cooperative. "We will continue to carry out a range of sharing activities together with the local community."
