Jang Yun-gi, 23, who killed a female high school student, had his frequent "kidnap a schoolgirl" remarks made to a classmate since high school admitted as trial evidence.
According to legal circles on the 26th, the 13th Criminal Division of the Gwangju District Court (presiding judge Lee Jung-ho) will hold the third trial session of Jang Yun-gi at 10 a.m. on the 27th. Jang was arrested and indicted on charges including "rape and murder" under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
Attending this session as witnesses will be the parents of Lee Chae-won, 16, who was killed by Jang, and Ko, 17, who was seriously injured by Jang's weapon attack while trying to help Lee.
As Jang acknowledged the indirect evidence of the kidnapping plans, the plan to question Jang's acquaintances, including his high school classmate and a colleague from his time as a social service worker, was withdrawn. They had been expected to answer questions about whether Jang had previously made remarks to the effect that he "wanted to kidnap a young woman with a car and commit a sexual crime."
Earlier, chat records on social networking services (SNS) restored by prosecutors through forensic analysis of a mobile phone revealed that Jang had said, "I want to kidnap a schoolgirl" and "I can kidnap her with a van."
In addition, a black box memory card that prosecutors secured during a search and seizure of Jang's sport utility vehicle (SUV) on May 22 was found to contain a voice recording saying, "Any woman I get my hands on is pitiful."
If procedures such as witness examination conclude at the trial session on the 27th, the defendant Jang is expected to be interrogated at the fourth trial session thereafter.
