Content featuring stories about Seoul's parks and gardens can now be easily accessed on major e-book platforms.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced Wednesday that "Gongbaek (0·100)," a web magazine featuring news from garden city Seoul, will be released free of charge on the 10th of each month through major domestic e-book platforms, including Millie's Library, RIDI, Kyobo Book Centre, YES24 Cremaclub, and Aladin.
The magazine's title, Gongbaek (0·100), refers to a monthly public web magazine that fills the city's empty spaces with stories of parks and gardens, seasons, and people, under the motto of "emptying (0) and filling (100)." Since its launch in September last year, it has been published on the first day of each month through the Garden City Seoul website, and starting on the 10th of each month, it is also available on e-book platforms.
A total of 11 issues have been published from the inaugural issue to the latest, and it also serves as a public content archive that can be revisited at any desired time. It has secured a steady readership, including 2,655 mailing subscribers.
The content goes beyond delivering policy information, focusing on conveying policies more easily and accessibly by unfolding Seoul's seasons, landscapes, and citizens' daily lives into engaging stories. Through theme-centered features such as "A Child's Heart," "Paradise of Rumors," and "Green Roof," it also demonstrates new possibilities for public web magazines.
Citizen-participation content is also being operated. Through the monthly "Please Fill the Gongbaek" section, memories and daily experiences at parks and gardens are shared, and selected citizens receive a "Gongbaek" book key ring equipped with an NFC function. Tagging the key ring on a mobile phone connects directly to the latest web magazine.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government is expanding policy promotion by linking various content, including YouTube and special print editions, centered on the web magazine. The "Garden City Seoul" YouTube channel surpassed 100,000 subscribers this year, and special print editions linked with the web magazine are published four times a year. In May, 2,000 copies were produced on the theme of the "2026 Seoul International Garden Show" and distributed around Seoul Forest and other areas.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to continue strengthening content-based promotion so that citizens can access policies as "content to read, watch, and experience" through various platforms.
"We planned the web magazine to make Seoul's policies into content that citizens want to look up and keep for a long time," said Kim Young-hwan, director general of the Seoul Garden City Bureau. "Through various channels, including the web magazine 'Gongbaek,' we will promote garden city Seoul and deliver healing in everyday life."
