Daejeon is taking its first step toward realizing "Youth Special City Daejeon," the core vision of the ninth popularly elected local government.
The city announced Tuesday that it is publicly recruiting one Special Youth Adviser (equivalent to a Grade 5 local government position of special appointment).
The Special Youth Adviser will carry out roles including policy planning to realize Youth Special City Daejeon, identifying youth support projects tailored to Daejeon, gathering opinions from young people in the field and providing policy advice, and assisting the mayor in policy decisions related to youth policy.
In particular, this recruitment will be conducted using a "no-spec" method that allows applicants to apply without education or career requirements, in order to provide fair opportunities to young people. Any young Korean citizen aged 25 to 39 as of the announcement date, with a resident registration in Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong, or North Chungcheong as of the day before the announcement date, may apply.
The selection process consists of a first-round document screening and a second-round interview. In the first-round document screening, applicants will be comprehensively evaluated on the creativity and feasibility of their policy proposals and their understanding of youth issues, based on a policy proposal centered on the "Youth Special City Daejeon" vision submitted by the applicant.
In the second-round interview, applicants will give a five-minute presentation using presentation materials (PPT) based on the policy proposal they wrote. The final successful applicant will be selected through a comprehensive evaluation of policy planning capability, logic, and communication skills.
Applications can be submitted in person or by mail to the recruitment team of Daejeon's Personnel Innovation Division from July 10 to 14.
Daejeon Mayor Heo Tae-jeong said, "We aim to reflect the perspectives and ideas of young people in city administration."
