KEPCO Nuclear Fuel said it has drawn up and proclaimed on Monday its "10 Guidelines for Respectful Communication," jointly with its labor union, reflecting a commitment to building a horizontal organizational culture and practicing mutual respect.
After selecting horizontal communication as a key task at a May workshop of integrity agents composed of employee representatives, KEPCO Nuclear Fuel conducted a company-wide idea contest in June and established action-oriented communication principles that can be practiced in the workplace as the 10 guidelines.
The guidelines contain communication principles that executives and employees will uphold going forward, including the use of honorifics, active listening, respecting opinions over rank, embracing differences, a culture of asking questions, considerate requests for collaboration, sincere collaboration, solutions over blame, efficient meetings, and sharing and practice.
The company plans to carry out continuous efforts to put the guidelines into practice, including holding monthly practice campaigns, identifying best cases, and sharing achievements.
"We will strive to ensure that the guidelines do not stop at a declaration but continue as everyday actions, so that a culture of mutual respect takes root," KEPCO Nuclear Fuel President Jeong Chang-jin said.
"The labor union will also actively take part so that the 10 guidelines, created by incorporating employees' opinions, can be naturally practiced in the field," union chairman Ahn Hee-jong said.
