The National Labor Relations Commission has once again recognized the union status of the Cargo Truckers Solidarity Division, which is composed of cargo truck drivers.
The commission said Friday that it had recognized, in the same manner as the initial ruling, the request for correction and reconsideration regarding CJ Logistics' public notice confirming the union requesting bargaining and the public notice of objection. The decision recognizes the bargaining qualifications of the Cargo Truckers Solidarity.
The ruling holds that because CJ Logistics is the effective employer of the parcel delivery workers belonging to the Cargo Truckers Solidarity, the union should not be excluded from the bargaining confirmation notice. The case was filed by the Cargo Truckers Solidarity after being delegated authority by the Korean Public Service and Transport Workers' Union, its umbrella organization.
The commission also upheld the initial recognition ruling on Hyundai Steel's request for reconsideration of bargaining unit separation. The decision holds that bargaining units between subcontractor unions should be separated. Bargaining unit separation is a system that allows separate bargaining for each union when multiple unions exist within a workplace.
