President Lee Jae-myung, on a tour of the United States and three South American countries, wrapped up his schedule in San Francisco on the 25th and departed for Brazil, his second destination.
Lee, who had arrived in the United States the previous day, stayed in San Francisco for two days and one night. He attended an artificial intelligence (AI) summit involving global big tech companies and focused on upgrading cooperation between Korean and U.S. firms in advanced industries. On this occasion, domestic companies and global big tech firms agreed to pursue semiconductor cooperation worth a total of $950 billion (about 1,375 trillion won).
Going forward, Lee plans to visit Brazil, Chile and Argentina in South America in turn, seeking to strengthen cooperation on critical minerals and supply chains. First, from the 26th to the 29th, he will make a state visit to Brazil at the invitation of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, holding a Korea-Brazil summit and a business roundtable event.
For two days starting the 29th, he will make an official visit to Chile and hold a summit with President Jose Antonio Kast of Chile's new government, which launched this year. From the 30th through the 1st of next month, he will visit Argentina and hold a summit with President Javier Milei.
