Korea Growth Investment Corp. has launched a new leadership era under CEO Jang Sang-ik, pledging to lead efforts to invigorate productive finance.
Jang took office, according to the investment banking industry Wednesday. Beginning his career at Samil PwC in 1993, Jang has gained experience across various roles at venture capital firms, accounting firms, and small and medium-sized and venture enterprises over approximately 30 years. As a venture investment expert who has grown alongside Korea's venture ecosystem, he worked at Korea Venture Investment Corp. for 16 years and is credited with contributing to both the quantitative and qualitative growth of the venture capital ecosystem.
"Going forward, I will lead the way in building a private sector-driven venture capital ecosystem and faithfully fulfill the role of a catalyst in capital markets by operating customized fund-of-funds that meet market demand," Jang said. "Beyond simply being a capital provider, I will focus our capabilities on identifying the nation's future growth engines and invigorating productive finance that supports 'technology-led growth.'"
Korea Growth Investment had earlier completed its new management team by appointing Lee Min-woo as head of the investment management division and Yong Yun-jung as head of the management planning division. Together with the newly formed management team, Jang plans to build a data-driven, efficient investment management system to lead organizational innovation.
Lee is a financial expert who has experienced the full spectrum of capital markets in the securities and specialized credit finance industries, accumulating integrated capabilities in proprietary investment (PI) management, risk management, sales, and new business planning. Yong worked in the venture investment industry for an extended period and served as the inaugural head of an overseas office, possessing a high level of understanding of domestic and international venture capital markets, along with organizational management and global networking capabilities.
