Starbucks Korea said on the 5th that it will run "Starlight Live," a support program for young talent in culture and the arts, at five stores nationwide from this month through March next year. The company plans to continue backing artistic talent by turning its stores across the country into performance stages for young musicians.
Starlight Live is operated jointly with the Arts Council Korea. It offers Starbucks stores as venues for young artists who have relatively few chances to perform, while giving customers an opportunity to encounter culture and the arts in their daily lives. Starbucks has held more than 550 Starlight Live performances since 2018, with about 1,000 young artists taking the stage.
The artists selected for this round will perform across a range of genres, including acoustic, jazz, classical and traditional Korean music. The first performance took place on the 4th at the Jangchung Lounge R store, with further shows set for the 10th at The Yeosu Dolsan DT store, the 17th at the Sejong Arts Center store, the 24th at the North Osan IC DT store and the 31st at the Gyeongdong 1960 store.
"Starlight Live gives young artists a valuable stage where they can meet customers directly, and it gives customers a chance to experience culture and the arts as part of everyday life," said Kim Ji-young, head of Starbucks Korea's ESG team. "We will continue to provide various forms of support so that young talent in culture and the arts can fully display their abilities."
