Hoban Group has named Kim Dae-heon, a second-generation member of the founding family and head of strategic planning, as board chairman of Hoban Construction, as part of a broader round of senior executive appointments.
Song Jong-min, vice chairman and chief executive of Taihan Cable & Solution, was named senior vice chairman of the group and chief executive of Hoban Construction, the group said on the 2nd. Kim Jun-seok, executive vice president of Taihan Cable & Solution, and Jung Sung-ki, executive vice president of Hoban Industrial, were each promoted to president, while Kang Shin-joo, senior vice president of Hoban Hotels & Resorts, was promoted to executive vice president. All three will serve as chief executives of their respective affiliates. Byun Boo-sub, head of the construction safety division at Hoban Construction, was promoted to president and will share chief executive duties with Song under a co-CEO structure.
The group said it moved up its senior executive reshuffle from previous years to shore up organizational stability and sharpen execution. As board chairman, Kim will take part in key decisions including the setting and execution of group management strategy, playing a more active role in running the group. Song plans to strengthen the group's operating fundamentals by expanding urban redevelopment work and leading large-scale development projects in Seoul and the surrounding metropolitan area. Kim Jun-seok will focus on expanding in major markets such as the United States and Europe and on turning large investments in high-voltage direct current transmission and submarine cables into tangible results.
"This reshuffle was focused on putting new leadership in place early, to respond preemptively to an uncertain business environment and to move quickly on the core tasks facing our main affiliates," an official at Hoban Group said. The appointments will be finalized after procedures including board approvals at each affiliate.
