The Blackyak Kang Tae-sun Nanum Foundation, the charitable arm of BYN Blackyak Group, has provided about 2 billion won ($1.4 million) worth of relief supplies to Nepalese displaced by severe flooding.
The foundation said on the 30th that it delivered Blackyak clothing along with blankets, mats, water canteens and other daily necessities and cold-weather items to the affected areas through World Share, an international relief and development NGO.
Blackyak, whose brand philosophy is rooted in the Himalayas, has long supported mountain conservation and community programs in Nepal. The company has maintained ties with the Nepal Mountaineering Association as well as local Sherpas and icefall doctors. When a major earthquake struck Nepal in 2015, Blackyak dispatched an emergency relief team and delivered supplies and donations, and later ran the Learning in the Himalaya project to rebuild schools destroyed by the quake.
Blackyak said it plans to continue climate action projects centered on cleanup and restoration work in the Himalayas. "We hope these supplies will offer at least some help to those displaced, and we will continue taking practical action and providing support to overcome the climate crisis," said Kang Tae-sun, chairman of the Blackyak Kang Tae-sun Nanum Foundation.
