
CJ CheilJedang (097950) is providing ready-to-eat meals and food ingredients to vulnerable households in Jeonbuk ahead of the Chuseok holiday. Starting with Jeonbuk, the company plans to gradually widen its food donation program to other regions, including Gyeongnam.
The company said on the 18th that it is carrying out the food donation with the nonprofit organization People Sharing Hope, targeting elderly people living alone, people with disabilities and low-income families in the Jeonbuk region. It is the first donation activity since the company established a partnership with the organization this year.
The donated items include Bibigo soups and stews such as beef bone soup, spicy beef soup, soybean paste soup and beef knuckle soup, along with Hetbahn cooked rice and Hetbahn Rice Plan porridge, sauces including ssamjang and gochujang, Spam and olive oil. The goods will be delivered to elderly people living alone, people with disabilities and low-income households in Jeonbuk through People Sharing Hope and the Jeonbuk-based volunteer group Chamjoeun Sarang Nanum Community ("Truly Good Love Sharing Community").
CJ CheilJedang is also preparing food support in Gyeongnam. Going forward, the company plans to expand the regions and scale of its support by using the 30 hub organizations that People Sharing Hope operates nationwide.
Separately, CJ CheilJedang has been donating hundreds of millions of won worth of food each year through channels such as food banks and Goodwill Store. A company official said, "We arranged this donation to provide food to neighbors in the community ahead of Chuseok," adding, "We will continue our attention to and support for marginalized neighbors."
