E-Mart's Gunsan store reopens on the 17th as the first Starfield Market in North Jeolla Province.
E-Mart said on the 16th that it has renovated its Gunsan store in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province, and will reopen it as Starfield Market Gunsan. The store expanded its sales floor by 300 pyeong from before, bringing the total to 4,994 pyeong, or about 16,509 square meters. The space and content were reorganized so that customers can shop, dine, rest and enjoy cultural activities in one place, rather than simply buy groceries.
At the first-floor E-Mart section, grocery space was expanded 10% from before, and the company set up separate specialty zones for its private-brand lines No Brand and 5K Price. A roughly 50-pyeong liquor specialty section called Wine & Liqueur also makes its debut. In November, a deep-discount household goods section called Wow Shop is scheduled to open as well.
The second floor houses about 190 pyeong of stay-oriented space, including Book Ground for reading and relaxing and Kids Ground, a play and hands-on area for children. Major brands such as Modern House, Olive Young, ABC Mart and Hygge Books have opened outlets there, along with a range of food and beverage brands including Shima Sushi, Solsot, Sabo Ten and Mad for Garlic.
"We have renewed the E-Mart Gunsan store, which has grown alongside local residents for 25 years, into a Starfield Market that adds food and beverage, culture and rest to shopping," an E-Mart official said. "We will work harder to strengthen the shopping experience and become a stay-oriented space closely tied to the daily lives of Gunsan residents."
Starfield Market began with the Jukjeon store in 2024, followed by the Ilsan, Dongtan and Gyeongsan stores in 2025. The Wolgye store opened in August this year.
