Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) said on the 13th that it held a "Bespoke AI Cooking Show" on the 11th at Chef Hoyoon Studio in Seoul's Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, ahead of the Chuseok holiday, to introduce the convenience and connected experience of its Bespoke AI kitchen appliances.
The event was designed to show how Bespoke AI appliances can address the concerns consumers often face around the holiday, such as storing ingredients and using up leftovers. Influencers in the food and information technology sectors and magazine industry figures attended to try out an AI kitchen experience spanning ingredient management, menu recommendations and cooking.
The cooking show was led by chef Kim Ho-yoon, who has appeared on programs including "Culinary Class Wars 2" and "Street Restaurant Fighter." Kim demonstrated how to manage a refrigerator and choose a menu using the Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator and the Infinite AI Induction cooktop, both of which the chef has used for about nine months.
Kim first used the Family Hub's AI Food Manager to check stored ingredients and their expiration dates, then picked the items to use first. The AI Vision feature, which relies on an internal camera, works with Google Gemini to recognize not only ingredients and packaged foods but also handwritten labels.
Kim then used the "What's for Today?" feature to get menu suggestions based on the ingredients on hand. Working from those suggestions, the chef prepared spicy braised LA-style short ribs with aged kimchi and served leftover jeon, or pan-fried fritters, with clam chowder, showing ways to make use of holiday dishes and remaining ingredients.
Recipes viewed on the Family Hub can be sent to the Infinite AI Induction cooktop. Heat levels and cooking times can be set for each step with a single touch, reducing the need to check recipes repeatedly or operate the appliance separately.
The demonstration also featured the Quattro Flex Zone, which heats evenly without cold spots, cooking large quantities of ingredients uniformly in a wide pan. A water dispenser function that pours a requested amount of water by voice command was also shown.
The latest AI Vision feature will be rolled out in stages starting in September to Family Hub refrigerators released in 2024 and 2025. The "What's for Today?" feature will also be extended to Family Hub models released since 2021.
Samsung Electronics provides software upgrades for up to seven years for Wi-Fi-equipped appliances released since 2024. The company said the policy is intended to let customers keep using new AI features and enhanced security functions after purchase.

"We will continue to expand differentiated kitchen experiences and ecosystems based on AI technology."
