Euisun Chung, Executive Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, said the group "will jointly build a robot reference platform that combines the group's advanced robotics technology capabilities with Nvidia's software development, tools, and solutions."
Chung made the remarks at the San Francisco Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit held in San Francisco, the United States, on the 24th, saying, "We plan to create an open ecosystem to advance the country's robot AI technology."
The robot reference platform is a kind of open ecosystem that provides research robot models to universities, research institutes, and startups to support technological innovation and talent development. Chung said, "We will create an environment where academia, companies, and others can freely develop and verify with one another on standardized hardware and software." He added, "Within this open ecosystem, world-class physical AI talent will be nurtured, and in the near future Korea will establish itself as a central hub leading the physical AI industry."
Chung personally introduced Hyundai Motor Group's (005380.KS) physical AI vision, which is based on cooperation with global big tech companies such as Nvidia and Google. Chung explained, "The physical AI that Hyundai Motor Group pursues starts with the intelligence of individual devices such as cars and robots, passes through the intelligence of specific spaces such as AI factories, and ultimately realizes city-level integrated intelligence in which the entire urban infrastructure is organically connected and operated." He said, "To realize this vision, we have world-class manufacturing competitiveness and leading robotics capabilities centered on Boston Dynamics, and we are securing a data flywheel system that connects field data to the advancement of AI models." He added, "Through strategic collaboration with global big tech companies such as Nvidia and Google, we are accelerating the realization of future physical AI."
