Through the project, 9.3 kilometers of embankment construction and revetment along the Mekong River were improved, along with the creation of a 4.3-hectare riverside park, a 4.4-kilometer riverside road, and a 1.01-kilometer pedestrian path. The project was ordered by the Department of Public Works and Transport of Vientiane, Laos, and its funding was raised through the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF). Dongbu Construction served as the lead company with a 60% stake. The total construction cost was 58.2 billion won, and the construction period was 55 months.
Dongbu Construction explained that the completion once again proved its capability to carry out overseas official development assistance infrastructure projects. Based on the technical expertise and project management experience it has accumulated in civil engineering infrastructure fields such as roads, bridges, and ports both at home and abroad, the company is expanding its construction capabilities in overseas markets as well.
"The completion of this Mekong River Comprehensive Management Project is a meaningful achievement that demonstrates the technical expertise and execution capability Dongbu Construction has built up in the overseas civil engineering infrastructure field," a Dongbu Construction official said. "We will continue to identify sound projects with profitability and stability in overseas infrastructure markets, including Southeast Asia."
