
Korea Exchange (KRX) has appointed Kim Woo-chan, a professor at Korea University Business School, as the new chair of its KOSDAQ Market Committee.
The exchange held an extraordinary shareholders' meeting at its Seoul office and approved Kim's appointment as KOSDAQ Market Committee chair, KRX said Thursday. His two-year term runs from Friday through July 6, 2028.
Under Korea Exchange's articles of incorporation, the KOSDAQ Market Committee chair is appointed at a shareholders' meeting following a recommendation by the KOSDAQ Market Committee.
Kim, born in 1967, graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in international economics. He earned a master's and a doctorate in public policy with a concentration in finance from Harvard University.
He served as an administrative official in the international organizations division of the Ministry of Finance and in the foreign currency funds division of the Ministry of Finance and Economy. He then worked as a professor at the KDI School of Public Policy and Management and as an associate professor at Korea University Business School. He has been a professor at Korea University Business School since 2017.
Kim currently also serves as director of the Center for Good Corporate Governance, an advisory member of the growth economy subcommittee of the National Economic Advisory Council, chair of the Financial Supervisory Service's Financial Supervisory Advisory Committee, and an outside director at the Korea Development Bank.
