Doosan Group (000150) is teaming up with Nvidia to broadly explore new business opportunities in physical AI, robotics, and AI factories.
Doosan Group said Wednesday it will expand cooperation with Nvidia across its core businesses, including energy, electronic materials, and robotics. The goal is to connect Doosan's product, technology, and manufacturing capabilities with Nvidia's accelerated computing and physical AI platforms.
The previous day, Doosan Group Chairman Park Jeong-won met with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who served as the ceremonial first-pitch thrower at a Doosan Bears home game, and discussed cooperation plans during a conversation before the pitch, according to sources.
In the energy sector, Doosan Enerbility's (034020) gas turbines and small modular reactors (SMRs), along with Doosan Fuel Cell's hydrogen fuel cells, are expected to be utilized in DSX, Nvidia's AI factory construction platform. The two companies agreed to broaden the scope of cooperation to include power supply design essential for AI factory construction, optimization of power generation facilities, and the search for low-carbon power sources.
In robotics, Doosan Robotics (454910) is developing an agentic robot operating system that perceives and makes judgments about its environment on its own, using Nvidia's open library and robot control devices. Based on this, the companies are also discussing the development of reference robot solutions to perform precision-demanding industrial tasks such as depalletizing (sorting loads) and sanding (surface polishing). In addition, the company plans to apply Nvidia's physical AI technology to Doosan Bobcat's construction and logistics equipment to lead technology standards in the market for site-specific autonomous equipment.
In electronic materials, Doosan Corp.'s Electro-Materials BG will support next-generation AI data center infrastructure such as Nvidia's MGX platform through copper clad laminate (CCL), a key material in printed circuit boards (PCBs). CCL is an essential material for the error-free operation of AI accelerators, and demand for it continues to grow. Doosan Corp. is building a new production base in Thailand to expand production, targeting mass production in 2028.
"Doosan Group continues to develop the technologies needed for the AI era in the fields of energy, robotics, and advanced materials, based on manufacturing capabilities accumulated over a long period," Park said. "As we enter the AI factory era, this cooperation with Nvidia will be of great help in applying AI to our business areas and seeking business opportunities." Huang also expressed expectations that by combining DSX and physical AI with Doosan's businesses, the company could secure new growth drivers in areas such as intelligent robots and next-generation infrastructure.
