Skies will be mostly clear across South Korea on the 23rd, which falls on Wednesday and marks the autumnal equinox, when day and night are of equal length, but the gap between daytime and nighttime temperatures will widen sharply.
Morning lows were forecast at 11 to 20 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs of 24 to 30 degrees. Less than 5 millimeters of rain will fall in places on the five islands in the West Sea from morning through the afternoon.
Until early morning, strong winds of 30 to 55 kilometers per hour will blow over the southern waters of the southern East Sea, the far seas of the South Sea and the waters off Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, with waves rising 1.5 to 3.5 meters high. Strong swells may flow into the east coast, the southern coast of the Gyeongnam region and the coast of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, so caution is needed against safety accidents along shorelines.
Waves will reach 0.5 to 3.0 meters in the near seas of the East Sea, 0.5 meters in the near seas of the West Sea and 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the near seas of the South Sea.
Wave heights in the inner far seas are expected at 0.5 to 3.0 meters in the East Sea and South Sea, and 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the West Sea.
