Skies will be mostly cloudy nationwide on the 1st, with rain falling mainly in central regions, the weather agency said. Showers are forecast for southern areas and Jeju Island from the afternoon.
Rain will fall in scattered parts of central regions through the morning, continuing until late afternoon in eastern Gyeonggi Province and Gangwon Province. Southern regions and Jeju Island will see showers between the afternoon and evening.
Expected rainfall is 10 to 60 millimeters in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi Province and the five West Sea islands, and 10 to 50 millimeters in Gangwon Province. Western Chungcheongnam-do will receive 30 to 80 millimeters, with more than 100 millimeters possible in some coastal areas along the West Sea. Daejeon, Sejong, eastern Chungcheongnam-do and Chungcheongbuk-do are expected to see 20 to 60 millimeters.
Forecasts call for 5 to 40 millimeters each in Jeollabuk-do, Gwangju and Jeollanam-do, as well as in Daegu, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongsangnam-do, and 5 to 30 millimeters on Jeju Island.
Areas receiving rain may also see sudden gusts accompanied by thunder and lightning. Swells are possible along the East Sea coast, requiring extra caution near the shoreline.
Morning lows are forecast at 21 to 26 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs of 25 to 34 degrees.
Waves will run 0.5 to 1.5 meters in coastal waters of the East Sea and 0.5 to 1.0 meters in coastal waters of the West and South seas. In nearer offshore waters, defined as areas within about 200 kilometers of the coastline, waves are expected to reach 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the East Sea and 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the West and South seas.
