Yuhan (000100) is expanding its health functional food lineup with the launch of Yuhan Daily Red Ginseng, a liquid stick-type supplement made from six-year-old red ginseng that can be taken in a single serving each day.
The company said the new product uses six-year-old red ginseng as its main ingredient. Each 10-milliliter stick contains 3 milligrams of ginsenosides — the sum of Rg1, Rb1 and Rg3 — per daily serving.
Red ginseng is a government-listed functional ingredient recognized by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for five health functions: boosting immunity, easing fatigue, supporting blood flow by inhibiting platelet aggregation, improving memory and providing antioxidant effects. Yuhan Daily Red Ginseng meets the ministry's functional standards and is designed to address all five concerns with one stick a day.
The product comes in a one-month pack of 30 sticks, or 300 milliliters in total, with individually wrapped sticks intended to maximize portability and convenience. It requires no measuring or dilution in water, making it easier to take for consumers who found glass-bottled concentrates or bulky pouches inconvenient.
To soften red ginseng's characteristic bitterness and add depth of flavor, the company blended selected traditional plant-based ingredients so that the drink goes down smoothly for consumers of all ages. It is manufactured under Yuhan's quality control standards and certified to GMP, or Good Manufacturing Practice for health functional foods.
"Because red ginseng is such a widely used health food, the key criteria for choosing a product are the reliability of the ingredient and how easy it is to keep taking every day," an official at Yuhan said. "We expect a good response not only from people who need a lift in daily life but also as a gift for holidays and special occasions."
Yuhan Daily Red Ginseng is available only at pharmacies.
