South Korean butterfly swimmer Kim Min-sup of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Sports Council took bronze by just 0.01 seconds, giving the country its first podium finish in the men's 200-meter butterfly at the Asian Games in 28 years.
Kim finished third in 1 minute 55.94 seconds in the final at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre in Japan on the 25th at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Wang Kuan-hung of Taiwan won gold in 1:55.05, and Xu Fang of China took silver in 1:55.65. Kim edged out fourth-place Wang Xizhe of China, who clocked 1:55.95, by a margin of 0.01 seconds.
It was the first Asian Games medal for a South Korean in the men's 200-meter butterfly since Han Kyu-chul at the 1998 Bangkok Games.
