SUWON — The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is launching a vaccination support program to protect the health of middle and high school students and curb the spread of influenza in schools.
The office said on the 1st that it will run the 2026 Gyeonggi Province Influenza Vaccination Support Program for Middle and High School Students from Oct. 5 through Nov. 21. The program aims to reduce infection risks among students and prevent group outbreaks in school communities ahead of a winter flu season.
Eligible recipients are students enrolled in middle and high schools in the province who were born between Jan. 1, 2008, and Dec. 31, 2011. Students from the third year of middle school through the third year of high school may also receive support if they wish to be vaccinated.
Students who want a shot can visit a designated medical institution. Lists of participating clinics are available on the websites of the district education offices overseeing each school.
Students must present documents verifying that they are enrolled in a school in Gyeonggi Province. The office recommends using the NEIS Plus app.
Additional paperwork may be required depending on whether a guardian accompanies the student. In some cases, a guardian consent form and a consent form for the collection, use and third-party provision of personal information must be completed and submitted, so students should check in advance.
Kim Young-myung, head of the office's student life education division, said, "We hope this will help reduce the spread of influenza in schools and protect the health of young people." Kim added, "Before visiting a medical institution, please check the required documents and whether the vaccine is in stock so that students can be vaccinated without inconvenience."
