ULSAN — Ulju County in Ulsan is rolling out participatory tourism events that link visits to its best-known autumn attractions with spending at local businesses.
The county said on the 30th that it will run the "Autumn Season Limited-Time Tourism Event" for two months from Oct. 1 to Nov. 30, consisting of a mobile app-based stamp tour and an Instagram travel review contest.
The program has two pillars: a mobile stamp tour called "Following Autumn, Around Ulju" and an Instagram verification event called "#UljuAutumnShot."
To join "Following Autumn, Around Ulju," participants download the "K-Stamp Tour" mobile app. They visit at least eight of the 12 autumn attractions selected by the county, collect stamps and then apply for a gift. The designated sites include Ganwoljae and Seoknamsa Temple, along with the ginkgo tree in Guryang-ri and Jakcheonjeong Valley, covering the county's leading foliage spots. Among those who complete the course and apply, 70 will be chosen by lottery to receive Ulju specialty products.
The "#UljuAutumnShot" event is designed to keep visitors in the area longer and encourage local spending. Participants post a review on their personal Instagram account with a photo from one of the designated sites, attaching a receipt from a restaurant, cafe or lodging facility within Ulju County. Fifty participants will be selected by lottery to receive two types of Ulju tourism souvenirs.
"We designed the two events together so that visitors can take in the clear autumn foliage while also spending more time and money in the area," an Ulju County official said. "We hope many visitors come to Ulju to enjoy the season and create meaningful memories."
