NAMYANGJU — The city of Namyangju in Gyeonggi Province has opened an experience center where teenagers can engage in physical activity while enjoying content that combines digital technology with sports.
Namyangju said on the 30th that the "Mamdaero A+ Playground" has begun full operation at Jeong Yak-yong Fun Ground in Sambong-ri, Joan-myeon.
The Mamdaero A+ Playground is an augmented reality (AR) facility created by renovating the former cypress wood pool area of the Cocomong Farm Village inside Jeong Yak-yong Fun Ground. It was designed to let teenagers move their bodies and enjoy a range of digital content indoors.
The 193-square-meter space is divided into four zones: an iFit zone, an XR screen zone, a smart basketball zone and an XR shooting zone. Its defining feature is programs that merge digital technology with sports so that teenagers can experience play and exercise together.
"I hope teenagers will set aside the burden of their studies for a while and spend a joyful, happy time running and playing freely at the Mamdaero A+ Playground," Namyangju Mayor Choi Hyun-duk said. "We will actively support teenagers so they can nurture their dreams and realize their potential."
The Mamdaero A+ Playground operates from Tuesday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is closed every Monday, during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays, and on substitute holidays. Further details are available from Jeong Yak-yong Fun Ground, operated by the Namyangju Urban Corporation.
