Seoul is organizing a matchmaking event where single residents who want to marry but lack chances to meet potential partners can connect over an autumn evening at an open-air street-dining venue.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said on the 29th that it will hold "Flutter in Seoul, Street-Dining Edition," the second event of its "Seoul-ting 2.0" program, on Oct. 23 at Sangbong Food Alley in Seoul's Jungnang District. Participants will get to know one another through restaurant tastings, two-on-two street-dining dates and walks through the alley.
The event is open to single men and women aged 25 to 45 who live in Seoul and are economically active, including office workers, sole proprietors and freelancers. A total of 100 people — 50 men and 50 women — will be selected by random drawing. Applications can be submitted through channels including the city's parenting information portal until 5 p.m. on Oct. 14.
Seoul-ting has been held five times since its first event in November 2024. A cumulative 13,854 people have applied, for an average of 28 applicants per slot, and 126 couples chose each other, for a matching rate of 50.4%.
The city plans to run an open chat room for participants and provide information on cultural programs such as performances and exhibitions so that the event does not end as a one-time meeting.
Ma Chae-sook, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Women and Family Affairs Office, said, "We will take care of follow-up support so that the connections made at Seoul-ting can continue."
