HWASEONG — A fire broke out at a neighborhood commercial building in Yanggam-myeon, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, at around 8 a.m. on the 23rd.
Fire authorities responded after a witness reported that smoke was coming from the second floor of the building, deploying 27 pieces of equipment and 58 firefighters to battle the blaze.
One woman in her 50s died in the fire, and another woman in her 50s was taken to a hospital in cardiac arrest.
A third woman in her 50s who was evacuating the site is being treated for minor injuries, including smoke inhalation.
Fire authorities said they plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire once it is fully extinguished.
