Seoul's Gangdong District will run "slow jogging" fitness classes through October to help residents build basic physical fitness.
The program is open to 90 district residents. Classes will be held once a week for six weeks at Bangjuk Neighborhood Park and Iljasan Neighborhood Park. Centered on slow jogging, which combines the benefits of walking and running, the course will gradually build the strength, balance and flexibility needed for daily life, with a focus on the lower body.
Before the program begins, participants will have their fitness levels measured at the Gangdong Fitness Certification Center, then take the same assessment again after the course to see how they have changed. The district will also link the program to Seoul's citizen health management platform, "Wrist Doctor 9988," to help participants manage their own walking and physical activity in daily life.
