ANCHORAGE, Alaska — President Lee Jae-myung held an impromptu tea-time chat with reporters traveling with him on the 26th in Anchorage, Alaska, a stopover on his flight home after wrapping up a trip to the United States and Mexico.
Lee boarded a flight to Seoul that morning after completing the seven-day trip, making a brief stop in Anchorage the same day.
Earlier, Lee delivered a keynote address at the United Nations General Assembly and held a summit with U.S. President Donald Trump during his stay in the United States. In Mexico, he held a summit with President Claudia Sheinbaum.
The surprise summit with Trump is seen as a key achievement of the trip, resolving friction that had emerged during negotiations over investment in the United States and advancing consultations between Seoul and Washington. In Mexico, where Lee became the first South Korean leader to make a state visit in 16 years, the summit provided the occasion for concluding a revision to an investment protection agreement after seven years of negotiations.
