President Lee Jae-myung, on a state visit to Mexico, said on the 24th that he would "never" remain in office beyond June 2, 2030.
Speaking at a dinner meeting with members of the Korean community at a hotel in Mexico City, Lee said he would ensure that South Korea takes good care of overseas Koreans at least during his term so that they need not worry about the country. "And there will absolutely never be a case of going past June 2, 2030, so for anyone who might be worried about that, please do not worry," he said.
