Doosan Enerbility said on the 6th that it has completed manufacturing of a 380-megawatt ultra-large gas turbine (model DGT6-300H S2) for SpaceXAI and held a shipment ceremony at its assembly plant at the company's headquarters in Changwon, Gyeongsang.
The event drew about 70 Doosan Enerbility executives and employees, including Power Services BG head Son Seung-woo, as well as key officials from the client, SpaceXAI. Attendees toured the shipment site and the advanced manufacturing facilities at the Changwon headquarters, then held a meeting between the two companies' management to discuss cooperation on expanding the gas turbine business.
The turbine shipped will be used in a large-scale energy infrastructure project SpaceXAI is pursuing in the United States. With power demand surging on data center expansion driven by the spread of AI, gas turbines that supply stable electricity are growing in importance.
Doosan Enerbility succeeded in localizing large gas turbines for power generation in 2019, becoming the fifth company in the world to secure the technology. The U.S. entry is expected to broaden opportunities for cooperation with global big tech companies. "We have entered the supply chain of a world-class AI company, proving the technological capability and quality of Korean gas turbines," Son said. "Using this shipment as a springboard, we plan to accelerate our push into the global large gas turbine market, including North America."
Doosan Enerbility has signed contracts to supply a total of 12 gas turbines to U.S. companies, including SpaceXAI. The industry estimates that five of those are destined for SpaceXAI.
