Hyundai Motor (005380.KS) said its September sales fell 16.0% from a year earlier, as buyers held off purchases while waiting for new models.

Compared with August, when a strike disrupted production, domestic sales rose 42.8% and overseas sales gained 0.5%.
In the domestic market, sedan sales totaled 20,901 units, led by 8,898 Grandeurs, 7,305 Avantes and 4,153 Sonatas.
Recreational vehicles sold 13,710 units, including 3,217 Santa Fes, 2,965 Palisades and 1,872 Konas.
Small commercial vehicles totaled 6,653 units, with 3,420 Porters and 3,088 Starias, while mid-size and large buses and trucks sold 2,016 units.
Luxury brand Genesis sold 5,742 units, including 1,959 G80s, 1,959 GV70s and 1,261 GV80s.
"September had fewer business days because of the Chuseok holiday, and demand was affected by buyers waiting for new models," a Hyundai Motor official said. "We will expand sales by introducing new vehicles with strong product appeal, such as the all-new Tucson."
