Asiana Airlines (020560.KS) will deploy a large number of international mileage flights on routes to Japan, China and Southeast Asia ahead of its merger with Korean Air (003490.KS) in December.
Asiana Airlines said on the 30th that it will operate a total of 73 international mileage flights on five popular routes, including Japan, China and Southeast Asia.
The special flights consist of 26 flights on Japanese routes to Tokyo and Osaka from Nov. 3 to 28, 26 flights on the Chinese route to Beijing from Nov. 9 to 27, and 21 flights on Southeast Asian routes to Hanoi and Manila from Nov. 4 to Dec. 10.
Bookings open at 9 a.m. on Sept. 30, and all remaining seats can be purchased with mileage. Depending on sales conditions, seats can also be bought as paid tickets, allowing customers to freely choose between mileage tickets and paid tickets according to preference.
For mileage tickets, one-way redemptions require 15,000 miles for economy class and 22,500 miles for business class on Japanese and Chinese routes, and 20,000 miles for economy class and 30,000 miles for business class on Southeast Asian routes. During peak season, an additional 50% is deducted compared with the off-season.
Tokyo and Osaka are among the most popular Japanese routes, helped by the weak yen. Beijing has also seen strong travel demand on the back of China's visa-free entry policy. Hanoi and Manila are considered major Southeast Asian routes with steady demand for both tourism and business.
Beyond operating domestic and international mileage flights, Asiana Airlines has continued to expand opportunities to use mileage, refreshing the product lineup at its mileage-only shopping mall OZ Mile Shop every month and running quarterly promotions.
On Sept. 28, the airline launched a promotion marking the second anniversary of OZ Mile Shop's opening. It will hold a random prize event for visitors and will award prizes through a drawing to customers who buy mileage products, based on their purchase amounts.
"We will continue working to help customers use their mileage more conveniently and in more diverse ways," an Asiana Airlines official said.
