Musinsa said on the 28th that it is accelerating the entry of Korean fashion brands into China by running "Musinsa Shanghai Pop-Up Store 2026," a showcase for K-fashion labels in Shanghai.
The pop-up, running from Aug. 21 through Nov. 30 at the Jing An Kerry Centre on Nanjing West Road in Shanghai, was organized with support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, or KOTRA, under a program that helps retailers expand overseas. The aim is to ease the hurdles small and mid-sized Korean fashion brands face when entering the Chinese market, such as product certification and securing distribution networks, while giving them a chance to sell on the ground. Musinsa handles preparatory steps including product certification for local distribution and supports offline sales. As of the 21st of this month, a month after opening, cumulative visitors had topped 10,000.
Through the pop-up, Musinsa plans to gather local consumer feedback and sales data and use them to support each brand's expansion in China. The goal is to cut the cost and time individual brands spend researching the Chinese market and building sales channels, while securing direct contact with consumers.
"Interest in K-fashion is high in China, but product certification and securing distribution networks require considerable investment in capital and manpower for a brand to enter on its own," a Musinsa official said. "By adding Musinsa's local distribution infrastructure and operating capabilities to the support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and KOTRA, we will lower the barriers for Korean fashion brands entering China and turn this into a real expansion of sales channels."
