Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital of Hallym University is holding a public health lecture on cancer screening and chronic disease management for people in their 40s and older.
The hospital said on the 22nd that the lecture, titled "Health Screenings You Must Not Skip After 40: Major Cancer Screening and Integrated Chronic Disease Management Strategies," will be held at 3 p.m. on the 23rd in Michael Hall on the fourth floor of Building 3 of the main complex. Anyone can attend on site without advance registration or fees.
After the age of 40, the risk of chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes and dyslipidemia rises, and systematic management of cancers and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases becomes more important. Beyond detecting disease early, health screenings help people identify their own health status and risk factors so they can improve their lifestyle habits.
The lecture will be given by Choi Min-gyu, a professor of family medicine who heads the hospital's Comprehensive Health Promotion Center. Choi plans to cover health screenings needed after the age of 40, the types of major cancer screenings and how to undergo them properly, how to read screening results, risk factors for chronic disease and how to manage them, and lifestyle management for fatigue, obesity, smoking cessation and stress.
"After 40, it is important to regularly check your health status and risk factors through screenings, even without any particular symptoms," Choi said. "I hope this lecture helps people correctly understand their screening results and adopt lifestyle habits that prevent cancer and chronic disease."
Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital of Hallym University regularly holds health lectures for local residents, providing information on the prevention and treatment of major diseases and on healthy lifestyle habits.
